Akshay Kumar: Humbled at eagerness of fans for release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Bell Bottom’ – Time Of Hindustan

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has finally reacted to growing speculation around his films ‘Sooryavanshi‘ and ‘Bell Bottom‘ and their release dates. Rumours running wild claimed that both films were eyeing an Independence Day 2021 release, which the star has denied.

In a statement, Kumar said that he feels “humbled” by the excitement of his fans, but insisted that the producers of his films are clear about releasing them in cinemas and is certain that both films will not release on the same date.

“I’m humbled at the excitement and eagerness of my fans regarding the release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Bell Bottom’, and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for all their love,” Akshay said in a statement.

“However, at this point, it is purely speculative to say that both films will release on Independence Day. The producers of both films are working out the release dates and will make announcements at the right time,’ he added.

Trade is abuzz with reports that the makers of ‘Sooryavanshi’ want the film to release in theatres only.

Considering that both films have a patriotic theme, and were delayed several times over the past year owing to the covid-19 crisis, it was reported that both films were eyeing the extended holiday weekend.

Following Salman Khan’s decision to release ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ in theatres and have a simultaneous OTT release, reports claimed that fellow Bollywood stars including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh and others, would adopt the same method.

‘Sooryavanshi’, directed by Rohit Shetty, was initially slated for a March 24, 2020 release, but the makers postponed it owing to the Covid-19 crisis which led to theatres shutdown across the country.

Kumar took to Twitter early this year to share an update about the release of the film. “We promised you all a cinematic experience and that’s what you will get. The wait is finally over! Aa Rahi Hai Police. #Sooryavanshi releasing worldwide in cinemas on 30th April 2021,” Kumar shared in a social media post.

However, the film didn’t arrive in theatres owing to the second Covid-19 wave that lead to lockdowns and curfews imposed around the country.

‘Sooryavanshi’ is the fourth film in Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’ and ‘Simmba’, starring Ranveer Singh.

The spy thriller ‘Bell Bottom’, which was slated for an April 2, 2021, was also postponed, with reports suggesting that the makers were eyeing a June 2021 release.
