Coach Ronald Koeman from Barcelona said the media had been mistreating after the team had just taken it out of contention in the Spanish championship race and he added he was interested in being in charge next season if the club wished him to do so.
After drawing 3-3 at the Levante on Tuesday, the Catalans effectively gave up their chances of catching La Liga leader Atletico Madrid by four points with two games remaining.
In their last home game on Sunday, they have to defeat Celta Vigo, but even if they defeat Osasuna, their dream will be ended.
“We’ve won the Copa del Rey, we’ve broken the Atletico divide by 12 points to challenge for the title, but after the press release over the past few days, it would appear I’ve done poor work,” Koeman told a Saturday news conference.
