Team captain Andrie Steyn (100, 132 balls, 9×4), and middle order contributed to a good start to the one-day five-match series on her tour of Zimbabwe by South Africa Women Emerging Side, with a 32-run victory here on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe: A Sneak Peek Despite wickets in hand, women were unable to keep up with the necessary run-rate and paid the price. In the end, they were defeated by 32 runs in the first day. They need to improve their strike rotation and sharpen their skills.

Andrie Steyn and her team defeated Zimbabwe Women 1-0 in the series thanks to some good all-around results. They have a strong batting lineup and can bat deep. They hope to continue their winning streak in the second game as well.

After being asked to use the surface at the Queens Sports Club for the first time, Andrie hit an outstanding century to set the foundation for their 232 for 7. The catalyst for the visitors’ domination over the home side was her third wicket stand of 86 runs with Nondumiso Shangase 43 (70) before the former was picked off Precious Marange’s bowling.

Andrie had scored the majority of the 232 runs when she dropped, backed by Nondumiso and the tell Annike Bosch, who was faster in her 46 off 47 balls. Mavhunga caught her off Nomvelo Sibanda’s bowling.

Delmi Tucker was caught leg before wicket by Nomvelo. The lower order had no impact on the tally, as the visitors finished their 50 overs with a score of 232 for 7.

For the most of the first half of their chase, Zimbabwe failed. Chiedza Dhururu was the first wicket to fall, caught by Andrie off Michaele Andrews. The home team had sunk to 57 for 3 at that stage.
