Twitter Introduces a New DM Search Bar Option for Android

Twitter launches a New DM Search Bar Option for Android earlier it was available on IOS.

Twitter, one of the most popular social media websites and microblogging sites, has just announced a new update for Android devices. The DM search bar for Android has just been released via Twitter. For the past two years, this feature has been available in the iOS edition. Users on the Android platform will finally be able to browse through their DMs for chats or groups they are a member of using this tool.

This latest functionality of the Android search bar is intended to pick and display conversations based on the user’s name and the group’s name. This feature allows users to easily find a discussion without having to scroll through the whole list.

Twitter announced in January that it was looking at how to develop DMs and invited public feedback, while Debugger confirmed in March that Twitter was preparing to introduce its revised DM experience in May. After today’s tweets, it seems impossible – however, regardless, this is obviously something Twitter is working on, and given its recent pace of product and update releases, it may very well be arriving shortly.

We’ve brought the DM search bar to Android and are rolling out an improved version that lets you search for all of your old convos, not just the most recent ones.

Waiting for the option to search your DMs for message content? We’re working on releasing that later this year!

That last point is important: although searching by username is useful, being able to search by messaging material in Twitter DMs will be even more so. According to Twitter, this is about to happen.

In the past, Twitter has experimented with more sophisticated search functionality, such as looking for shared media and connections in a single DM forum. The ability to scan message text, on the other hand, may make Twitter’s DM software more useful and encourage people to use DMs as their primary method of communication.

It may also be a useful complement to the customer service activities on Twitter.

By the end of the year, Twitter expects to announce another update that will enable users to search for discussions using key terms. They’ll be able to type terms and sentences, and any DMs that contain such words or sentences will appear in the list. If two or more chats contain the same or identical phrases, they will be shown in chronological order.

Along with new updates, Twitter is aiming to improve its search tool by encouraging people to search through any of their direct messages (DMs). This functionality allows users to browse for both old and new conversations.

Twitter recently announced that it has begun rolling out a feature for testing in Android that will enable users to submit voice notes and voice DMs in conversations.

The ability to filter through DMs more quickly could help you streamline your answers – for example, you could look through all users who have posed a specific question about a product using a certain keyword or expression, and send them all related updates as they become available.

As of now, Twitter hasn’t given a clear timetable for the potential DM update, but we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
